anuel Martínez is the Head of Open Innovation at Ferrovial. Since 2008, he has led the foundation of the innovation ecosystem: start-ups, academia, venture capital, government agencies, large companies, with the aim of creating competitive advantages and developing new business opportunities as well as promoting the innovation culture within the company.
Manuel was responsible for the design and launch of the Ferrovial Foresight unit which runs the scenario planning program What-if?, the employee-ideation program Zuritanken, the corporate intrapreneurship itinerary Shuttle and its successor the corporate venture builder Ferrovial Venture Lab together with the Scouting program BuildUp!
He began his professional career in the R&D Department of Renfe, then he turned to IT consulting and later launched an online advertising start-up. In 2003, he was appointed Head of Software Marketing at Sun Microsystems.
